Tags
Save an answer once and let anyone recall it with one word.
Tags
A tag is a saved piece of text with a name. Anyone in the server can call it up, which turns "what are the raid rules?" into one short command.
Aliases for the group: tag, t.
Using one
,tags raidrulesThat is the whole idea: one short word retrieves the answer. Running a tag shows its text and counts one use.
tag and t work just as well, so the shortest version is ,t raidrules.
Making one
,tags add raidrules If you see a raid, ping @Staff and do not post.Alias: create. Needs Attach Files, because a tag can carry a file.
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | 1 to 50 characters |
| Content | Up to 1900 characters |
| Per server | 500 tags |
Editing and renaming
,tags edit raidrules New wording here.
,tags rename raidrules raid-procedureAliases: change, update, and editname. You can only touch your own tag, unless you hold Manage Messages.
Deleting
,tags remove raidrules
,tags resetremove also works as del and delete. Same ownership rule. reset needs Manage Server and clears every tag in the server after a confirmation button, so use it on a test server rather than by accident.
Finding things
| Command | Shows |
|---|---|
,tags list | Every tag in the server, ten per page |
,tags list @member | Only that member's tags |
,tags search nitro | Tags whose name contains the word, up to fifty |
,tags author nitropolicy | Who made it, how often it has been used, when |
,tags random | Something you had not thought to look for |
Alias for search: look. For author: owner, creator.
Writing good tags
| Do | Why |
|---|---|
| Name them the way people ask | rules beats officialserverpolicyversion2 |
| Keep them short | The whole text shows in one message, and long ones get cut |
| Put the important line first | People scan, they do not read |
| Use one tag per topic | Easier to update, easier to search for |
