Watched Permissions
Get punished the moment someone hands themselves Administrator.
Watched Permissions
Nukes almost always start the same way: a role gets a dangerous permission, someone joins that role, and then the bans begin. Watching permissions catches step one instead of step three.
You add a permission to a watch list, and bore punishes anyone who grants it to a role, instantly, then reverts the role edit. There is no threshold for this, one grant is enough.
Adding a watch
Permission names are typed in lowercase with an underscore:
,antinuke permissions add administrator --do ban
,antinuke permissions add manage_roles --do stripstaff
,antinuke permissions add ban_membersShape:
,antinuke permissions add <permission> --do <punishment>
,antinuke permissions remove <permission>Alias for the group: perms. If you leave --do out, the punishment is stripstaff.
Running the watch command again without --do removes the permission from the list, so you do not need a separate "unwatch" word for that case. remove is there for clarity.
Permissions you can watch
| Permission | Why it matters |
|---|---|
administrator | Full control of the server |
manage_guild | Enough to change server settings and run a prune |
manage_roles | Enough to hand out power |
manage_channels | Delete or rewrite every channel |
manage_webhooks | Post as anyone, in any channel |
ban_members | Mass bans |
kick_members | Mass kicks |
mention_everyone | Ping the whole server |
manage_messages | Bulk delete |
Only these nine are watchable. They are typed in exactly this form; Manage Roles and manage roles also work, because bore normalizes what you type.
Checking the list
,antinuke settings shows how many permissions you are watching, along with the rest of your configuration.
Working with fake permissions
Watched permissions and Fake Permissions are different things and easy to mix up:
- Fake permissions unlock bore commands for a role. They change nothing in Discord.
- Watched permissions punish someone for changing real Discord permissions on a real role.
A good setup uses both: staff hold fake permissions so they can moderate through bore, and you watch administrator and manage_roles so that anyone who grants themselves the real thing gets caught immediately.
