Embeds

Build rich messages with colour, images, fields and buttons, and reuse them anywhere.

Embeds

An embed is the coloured box Discord shows for links and bot messages. bore lets you write one as plain text and reuse it anywhere: in a channel, in a welcome message, or through a webhook.

Sending one

,createembed {embed}$v{title:Server Rules$v{description:Be decent to each other.$v{color:#5865f2

Aliases: ce, script. Needs Manage Messages (real or fake).

Taking one apart

Every piece is written as $v{what you want:value}, put one after another, starting with {embed}.

PieceWhat it does
$v{content:...}Normal text above the box
$v{title:...}The title
$v{description:...}The body. Discord formatting works here
$v{color:#5865f2}The bar on the left. Six digits, the # is optional
$v{author:Name && https://icon.png && https://link}The small line at the top. Any of the three parts can be left out
$v{footer:Made by bore && https://icon.png}The small line at the bottom
$v{image:https://url.png}Full width picture
$v{thumbnail:https://url.png}Small picture in the corner
$v{field:Name && Value && true}A labelled row. Repeat it as often as you like. true keeps it beside the previous field
$v{button:label: Shop && url: https://example.com && style: green && emoji: 🛒}A clickable button. See below

The && symbol separates the parts of a piece. Leave a part empty and it is skipped.

A full example:

{embed}$v{author:Announcements && https://example.com/icon.png$v{title:Game night Friday$v{description:7pm server time in the **Voice Lounge**.$v{field:Prize && A nitro month && false$v{image:https://example.com/poster.png$v{color:#eb458e$v{footer:See you there

Buttons

Buttons need a link to do anything.

$v{button:label: Vote && url: https://example.com && style: blue
  • url: is required, or the button is shown greyed out and clicks do nothing.
  • style: is red, green, gray or blue. blue is Discord's blurple.
  • emoji: is optional.
  • The parts can go in any order after label:.

Stealing one you like

,embedcode <message link>

Alias: ec. Point it at any message with an embed and bore hands you back the exact script that made it, in a code block you can copy and edit. It even captures buttons.

This is the fastest way to learn the syntax: find an embed you like, run embedcode on it, then change one piece at a time with createembed.

Placeholders

Anywhere in a script you can use the same replacement words as welcome messages, and they resolve for the person reading the command:

{user}, {user.mention}, {user.name}, {user.avatar}, {user.joined_at}, {user.created_at}, {user.discriminator}, {guild.name}, {guild.id}, {guild.count}, {guild.count.format}, {guild.icon}, {guild.vanity}, {guild.created_at}, {guild.boost_count}, {guild.booster_count}, {guild.boost_tier}, {botcolor}, {invisible}.

{invisible} is the dark grey 2B2D31, used to make embed text look like it is part of the background.

Reusing one

Whatever you can write with createembed, you can also write in:

  • ,welcome add, ,leaves add, ,boosts add
  • ,stickymessage add
  • ,webhook send and ,webhook edit
  • ,pingonjoin message
  • ,levels message set

If bore cannot recognise any pieces in your script, it sends it as plain text instead of failing. That usually means a missing $v{ or a mistyped piece name.
