Automatic Messages

Sticky reminders, repeating posts, and replies that trigger on a keyword.

Automatic Messages

Three ways for bore to post without you asking it to. All need Manage Server or Manage Messages (real or fake).

Sticky messages

A reminder that always sits at the bottom of a channel. When someone posts, the old copy moves below their message.

,stickymessage add #rules Read the rules before posting.

Aliases: sticky, sm.

,stickymessage remove #rules

One sticky per channel. If one exists, remove it first. The sticky is posted as soon as you add it, so bore needs to be able to send in that channel.

Sticky text supports the same {user} and {guild.name} placeholders and embed scripts as Welcome Messages, and they are re-rendered against whoever last posted, so Welcome, {user} on a sticky shows the newest member.

Repeating timers

Post the same thing on a schedule.

,timer add #general 2h Donate to the community fund!

Aliases: create, send.

PieceDetail
ChannelAny channel in your server
Interval45s, 30m, 2h, 1d, or combined like 1h30m. One minute minimum, one year maximum
MessageUp to 2000 characters

Each timer gets a number, and the reply tells you what it is:

,timer list
,timer remove 7

list shows up to twenty five timers with their channel, interval, and whether they are running.

,timer activity on

Alias: ignoreactivity. When on, a timer only posts if a real person has spoken in that channel within the last thirty minutes, so you are not shouting into an empty room. Off by default, which means it posts no matter what.

Timer messages never ping anybody. Mentions inside the text are shown as plain words. If bore could not send something while your server was offline, it does not fire the missed posts all at once.

Autoresponder

Reply to a specific word or command-like phrase.

,autoresponder add rules https://discord.gg/yourinvite

Aliases: autorespond, autoresponse, arp.

The first word is the trigger, the second is the reply. Both are single words: there is no way to quote a multi-word trigger, so pick something short and unlikely to appear by accident.

FlagEffect
--not_strictFires when the message starts with the trigger instead of matching the whole message
--replySends the answer as a reply to whoever triggered it
--delete_triggerDeletes their message after replying
--self_destruct 30Deletes bore's reply after thirty seconds
,autoresponder add fix here_you_go --not_strict --reply --self_destruct 30
,autoresponder delete rules
,autoresponder list

list shows the trigger, the reply, how strict it is, and whether it self-destructs, five per page. Replies are sent exactly as written, with no placeholders and no embed script.
