VoiceMaster
Give members their own temporary voice channel they can name, lock, limit and fill.
VoiceMaster
Members join one channel and get a voice channel of their own to control: a name, a user limit, a lock, and the ability to remove someone. The channel disappears when the last person leaves.
Setup commands need Manage Server. Alias for the group: voice, vm, vc.
Setting it up
,voicemaster setupIt refuses if the server is already set up, so run ,voicemaster reset first. This creates three things:
| Created | Purpose |
|---|---|
| A Voice Channels category | Where the temporary channels appear |
| A interface text channel | A permanent panel of buttons for the channel owner |
| A Join to Create voice channel | Join it and your own channel is made |
Then members join "Join to Create" and land in <their name>'s channel.
,voicemaster resetTears all of it down: the tracked channels, the panel, the join channel, the category if it is empty, and the settings.
Choosing defaults
| Command | Needs | What it does |
|---|---|---|
,voicemaster category #Lounge | Manage Server | Where new channels are created |
,voicemaster defaultrole @Guest | Manage Server and Manage Roles | A role members hold only while inside a temporary channel, removed when they leave |
,voicemaster defaultregion rotterdam | Manage Server | The region new channels use |
,voicemaster defaultbitrate 96k | Manage Server | The quality new channels start with |
,voicemaster interface | Manage Server | Re-posts the button panel into the channel you are in |
Regions you can name: brazil, hongkong, india, japan, rotterdam, singapore, southafrica, sydney, us-central, us-east, us-south, us-west.
Running your channel
If you own the channel you are in, these are yours:
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
,voicemaster name Friday Calls | Renames it, up to 100 characters |
,voicemaster limit 5 | Caps the room. 0 removes the cap, which is the default |
,voicemaster bitrate 96k | Changes quality for this channel |
,voicemaster lock | Nobody else can join |
,voicemaster unlock | Anyone can |
,voicemaster ghost | Hides the channel from everybody you have not allowed |
,voicemaster unghost | Shows it again |
,voicemaster permit @friend | Lets one person or role in, even while hidden or locked |
,voicemaster reject @friend | Kicks them out and blocks them. Also deny, remove, kick |
,voicemaster transfer @friend | Hands ownership over, to someone in your channel |
,voicemaster configuration | Shows who owns it, whether it is locked, its quality, who is allowed in |
,voicemaster configuration works for anyone inside the channel, not just the owner.
The button panel
The interface channel carries buttons that do the same things as the commands, which is far easier for members than learning syntax:
Lock, Unlock, Hide, Reveal, Claim, Disconnect, Activity, Info, and Limit + / Limit −.
- Disconnect opens a list of the people in your channel so you can pick who to remove, up to twenty five at a time.
- Activity starts a shared activity such as Watch Together, Poker Night, Chess, Sketch Heads or Gartic Phone, and gives you a link to join it.
- Limit buttons move the cap up or down one at a time, to a maximum of 99.
Only the owner gets results; anyone else pressing is told it is not their channel.
Taking over an abandoned channel
,voicemaster claimIf someone left a channel behind and is not in it, whoever joins can claim it. It is renamed to you.
When channels go away
A temporary channel is deleted when the last person leaves it, not when you step out. If you leave two friends behind, your channel, its name and its locks are still yours when you come back.
There is no join-request queue, no mute or screen-share button, and no saved layout per member. What is here is the whole feature.
